The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show presented by PJP Farm and Irish Day Farm is a two-week annual spring event that will be held this year from March 22 through April 2 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center, 2501 South Mason Road in Katy. The horse show benefits TexasChildren’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Texas Children’s Hospital, and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. Most events are free and open to the public. Competition continues rain or shine, and many of the events take place under covered, indoor arenas. Family Nights will be hosted from 4 to 9 p.m. for the exciting Grand Prix competitions on Saturday, March 25 and April 1 2017. General Admission is only $10 per person, 12 and under are always free. There will be complimentary treats, gifts and activities for all children. Visit with Shetland therapy ponies and miniature horses; and take candid photos with a Pin Oak ambassador and the Easter Bunny. For a small donation, Pin Oak visitors will have the opportunity to pose with various equestrian-themed backdrops at the Catch the Moment photo booth and engage a caricature artist to sketch a stylized image of themselves. This award-winning horse show, Pin Oak was the first to receive the coveted United States Equestrian Federation’s Heritage Competition designation. This show attracts 1,200 horses each week and approximately 2,000 exhibitors from around the country including riders from Mexico and Canada. Taking the stage are American Saddlebreds, unters, Olympic-level Show Jumpers, and ponies with accomplished equestrian competitors of all ages. Spectators will also enjoy pre-competition entertainment including the Houston Highlander Bagpipers, the world famous Catalena Cowgirls, a salute to Honored Heroes from Texas Children's Hospital, and more!
